Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using SnagTimer (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you don't agree, don't use the Service. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
What SnagTimer Is
SnagTimer is a hyperlocal marketplace connecting neighbors and local businesses across several verticals:
- Items — peer-to-peer local sales, including free give-aways
- Tasks — service requests between neighbors
- On the Fly — direct purchases from local businesses
- Book a Service — booking a business's own appointment slots, or requesting a quote
- Events — ticketed local events
- Sublets — short-term room and apartment listings posted by verified listers
- Groups — public and private neighborhood groups, which may include their own Items and Events
- Ask the Neighborhood — open requests for something you need, with offers from other users
SnagTimer is a platform that facilitates connections and, where applicable, payments between users. Except where explicitly stated (such as On the Fly and Sublets, described below), SnagTimer is not the seller, buyer, landlord, tenant, or service provider in any transaction — you are transacting directly with other users or businesses.
Accounts
You're responsible for the accuracy of the information on your account and for anything that happens under it. Personal accounts and business accounts are kept separate — a business's On the Fly, Book a Service, or Sublets activity routes through its own verified business profile and its own connected payment account, distinct from the owner's personal profile.
Regulars
Businesses may approve individual users as “Regulars,” which can unlock free reservations and other business-specific perks. Regulars status is granted at the business's discretion and can be revoked.
Fees & Commission
Commission is deducted automatically from the seller's proceeds at the time of a completed transaction — you never receive a separate invoice for it.
| Vertical | Fee |
|---|---|
| Items & Tasks — under $50 | 10% + $0.50 |
| Items & Tasks — $50 and over | 8% flat |
| Events — paid tickets | 10% + $0.50 |
| Events — free events | No fee |
| On the Fly | No platform commission — payment goes directly to the business |
| Book a Service | Payment happens directly between you and the provider |
| Sublets | No transaction commission — businesses pay a listing subscription instead (see below) |
Subscriptions
Businesses may subscribe to unlock additional access on SnagTimer. Consumers may separately subscribe to SnagTimer Plus.
| Plan | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Book a Service | $25/mo | Business subscription |
| On the Fly | $15/mo | Free until the business has earned $15 through the vertical, then billing begins automatically |
| Sublets | $10/mo | Free until a business's listings have received 10 cumulative expressions of interest, then billing begins automatically |
| All-Access Bundle | $42/mo | Covers Book a Service, On the Fly, and Sublets together |
| SnagTimer Plus | $8.99/mo | Consumer plan — expands posting limits, search radius, and priority contact reveal on Sublets |
Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel anytime from your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Payouts & Withdrawals
SnagTimer uses Stripe to process payments and payouts. When you make a sale on Items, Tasks, or Events, here's what actually happens to the money:
- Clearing hold: after a sale, funds typically take about 2 business days to move from “pending” to your available balance. This is a standard hold used to cover potential disputes or fraud, not something SnagTimer adds on top.
- Withdrawing: once funds are available, you can withdraw them to your linked bank account from the Earnings screen at any time. The minimum withdrawal amount is $5.
- Bank posting time: once a withdrawal is initiated, your bank typically takes an additional 1–2 business days to post the funds.
- Typical total time from a completed sale to money in your bank account is around 3–5 business days, assuming no dispute or account review is triggered.
On the Fly purchases are direct charges that go straight to the business's own connected Stripe account — the business manages its own payout schedule directly through Stripe, outside of SnagTimer.
Wallet balance is not the same as your withdrawable balance. Certain in-app credits (for example, penalty-related credits described below) are tracked separately as wallet balance. Wallet balance is usable within the app but is not currently eligible for bank withdrawal.
Commitments & Missed Pickups
When you claim an item on SnagTimer — whether you're paying for it or receiving it for free — you're committing to collect it within the agreed time. This applies even to $0 listings.
| Item price | Missed-pickup penalty |
|---|---|
| Under $50 | $5 flat penalty |
| $50 and over | 20% commitment penalty |
For qualifying transactions, this penalty is shared between the person who made the item available and SnagTimer. It exists to protect the seller's time, not to generate revenue from missed pickups.
Pickup confirmation is two-sided: the countdown to collect an item only begins once both the buyer and seller confirm they've arrived. If the seller doesn't show, the buyer's deposit is automatically refunded regardless of fault.
Strikes
Repeated no-shows or cancellations may result in a strike against your account. Strikes expire on a rolling basis (currently six months) rather than remaining permanently on your record. Accumulating strikes may result in posting or purchasing restrictions.
Negotiation
On Items listings, buyers may propose a counter-offer to the listed price. Negotiation is limited to three total rounds per listing between a given buyer and seller. Accepting a negotiated offer reserves the price but does not automatically charge you — you complete the purchase as a separate step, at the accepted price.
Sublets — Additional Terms
Read this section carefully. Sublets involves housing, which is subject to real estate licensing law and the federal Fair Housing Act, along with applicable state and local law. SnagTimer is not a real estate broker, property manager, or party to any lease or sublease arrangement made through the Service. You are solely responsible for ensuring any listing, sublease, or transaction complies with applicable law.
Lister verification
Anyone posting a Sublets listing must first complete a verification process appropriate to their relationship to the property: Owner, Property Manager, Real Estate Agent, Tenant Subletting, or Roommate. Each type requires supporting documentation (for example, government ID and proof of ownership, a management agreement, a real estate license, or a current lease). SnagTimer never collects Social Security numbers, credit reports, bank statements, or paystubs as part of this process, for any verification type.
Content standards
The following are prohibited in any Sublets listing or request:
- Requests for income, credit score, or other financial qualification information outside SnagTimer's own structured flow
- Discriminatory language of any kind, including anything that could violate the Fair Housing Act (for example, restrictions based on race, religion, national origin, familial status, or similar protected characteristics)
- Phone numbers or other direct contact information typed into free-text fields — contact information is only meant to be exchanged through the structured “Interested” flow
Violations are reviewed and may result in listing removal and account strikes, up to and including suspension.
Budget information
If you post a room request, your stated budget range is visible only to verified businesses reviewing your request — it is never shown publicly, at any stage, resolved or not.
On the Fly — Vendor Verification
Businesses posting On the Fly listings must complete a one-time vendor verification before their first listing goes live. This is separate from your Stripe Connect payout setup — verification confirms who you are and what you're selling; payouts are handled through your existing On the Fly banking setup.
What you'll provide
At sign-up, you'll select a category — Food or Products — and provide your business name, business address, a contact person (name, phone, email), and your LLC or business registration number. You'll also upload:
- Business registration / LLC formation document — required for all On the Fly vendors, regardless of category
- Food safety, health inspection, handling & labeling certificate — required in addition to the above if you select the Food category, along with specifying what kind of food you sell (prepared meals, baked goods, packaged snacks, beverages, or other)
You must also read and accept the On the Fly Vendor Agreement before submitting your application for review.
Collecting these documents lets SnagTimer confirm your application is complete, but it is not an independent verification of their accuracy, validity, or that you hold any license or permit in good standing. As stated in the Vendor Agreement, you remain solely responsible for ensuring you meet all applicable food safety, health, licensing, and business registration requirements for your category and location.
Applications are reviewed before approval. SnagTimer may approve, reject, or request additional information at its discretion, and may suspend vendor status at any time, including in response to a complaint or evidence of non-compliance.
Prohibited Conduct
- Posting false, misleading, or fraudulent listings
- Circumventing SnagTimer's payment system for transactions that are supposed to go through it
- Harassing, threatening, or discriminating against other users
- Using the Service for anything illegal
- Creating multiple accounts to evade a suspension or strike
Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
SnagTimer is provided “as is.” We don't guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of items, services, or listings posted by users, and we're not responsible for the conduct of any user, on or offline. To the fullest extent permitted by law, SnagTimer's liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount of fees you paid to SnagTimer in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, accumulate excessive strikes, or pose a risk to other users.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in-app or by email before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
