Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 22, 2026
Draft — pending legal review. This document describes how SnagTimer actually handles data today, but it has not yet been reviewed by a licensed attorney and should not be treated as final, particularly regarding jurisdiction-specific privacy law (e.g. CCPA, GDPR) that may apply depending on where you live, and regarding the tax-reporting implications described in the Group Host Revenue Share section below.
01

Information We Collect

Account information

Name, email address, phone number, and profile details you provide when creating an account.

Location

Your approximate location, used to show listings, businesses, and requests near you, and to enforce SnagTimer's radius-based visibility rules. If you submit a Home Services request, we also collect the specific street address where the service is needed, along with its map coordinates, so we can route your request to nearby providers and confirm a provider's arrival against that address (see “Home Services,” below).

Identity verification

Certain actions — including posting an Items listing, registering as a Book a Service provider, or becoming a Group Host — require identity verification. This is handled entirely by our third-party identity verification provider, Persona. When you complete verification, you provide a government-issued ID and a selfie/liveness check directly to Persona through Persona's own secure interface — this information is never transmitted to or stored on SnagTimer's servers. SnagTimer receives only the result (a status such as approved, declined, or needs review) and an opaque reference ID for that verification session — we do not receive your ID number, date of birth, address, or a copy of your ID or selfie. Persona's mobile SDK may request camera and, on Android, microphone permissions as part of its own verification flow; SnagTimer's configured verification only uses still photos, and no audio is recorded or transmitted by SnagTimer. See Persona's own privacy policy for how Persona itself handles the data you provide to it directly.

Payment information

Payment card details are collected and stored by our payment processor, Stripe, not by SnagTimer directly. We receive limited transaction data from Stripe (such as amount, status, and a reference ID) needed to operate the marketplace.

Book a Service provider verification documents

If you register as a Book a Service provider (business or individual), we collect your business name, category, provider type, and — if you indicate your trade is licensed — your license number and issuing state, along with supporting documents. These are stored in a private, access-restricted location, reviewed only by SnagTimer administrators.

Vendor verification documents (On the Fly)

If you apply to post On the Fly listings, we collect your business name, business address, contact person details, and LLC or business registration number, along with a business registration / LLC formation document. If you select the Food category, we additionally collect a food safety, health inspection, handling & labeling certificate, and the type of food you sell. These documents are stored the same way as Book a Service verification documents — in a private, access-restricted location, never publicly visible, never resold, and not re-downloadable by the applicant once uploaded.

Verification documents (Sublets) — not currently collected

Sublets is not yet available in the app (see our Terms of Service), so this data is not being collected from anyone today. Once it launches, applying to post Sublets listings will require identity and relationship-to-property documentation appropriate to your verification type (for example, government ID, proof of ownership, a lease, or a real estate license), stored the same way as the verification documents above. We do not intend to collect Social Security numbers, credit reports, bank statements, or paystubs for Sublets verification, for any verification type.

Home Services

If you submit a Home Services request through Book a Service, we collect the address where the service is needed (see “Location,” above), any photos you attach describing the job, and your answers to category-specific questions about the job (for example, the type of repair needed). When a provider accepts your request and travels to you, we compare their device's location against your provided address to confirm their arrival.

Item handoff evidence

Completing an Items pickup requires both the buyer and the seller to each take two photos (four total): one showing the item's condition, and one showing an identifying detail such as a label, tag, or serial number. Each photo's capture time and precise location are recorded at the moment it's taken, and stored separately from the listing itself so it isn't broadly visible the way the listing is. Each party also separately confirms they've reviewed the exchange. This exists to create evidence in case of a dispute about an item's condition or authenticity.

Book a Service Gallery

If a Book a Service business owner uploads portfolio photos to their profile's Gallery, those photos and their captions are publicly visible to anyone viewing the business's profile. We also track an aggregate view count per photo — this is a simple counter of how many times a photo has been opened, not a record of who viewed it.

Nominate a Business

If you nominate a business you'd like to see on SnagTimer, we store your account and the business name and (optional) location you provide. This is visible only to SnagTimer administrators, and is used to gauge interest in bringing new businesses onto the platform — it is not shared with the nominated business or any other user.

Group Host financial information

If you become eligible to earn a Group Host revenue share, additional data is collected and shared — see “Group Host Revenue Share,” below.

Signup IP address

We record the IP address your device used at the moment you created your account. This is used only to flag signals of coordinated abuse (for example, an unusual number of accounts created from the same address in a short window) for manual review by our team — it is not used to track your location or ongoing activity, is not linked to any tracking or advertising purpose, and is not shared with any third party.

Push notification token

If you enable push notifications, we store a device-specific push token (via Expo's notification service) so we can deliver notifications to your device. This token identifies your app installation for delivery purposes — it does not identify you personally beyond your own account.

Content you post

Listing descriptions, reviews and ratings, reports you file, and messages related to requests or offers are stored as part of operating the Service, and are visible to other users where the relevant feature is designed to show them (for example, a review is visible on the profile it was left for).

Usage data

Information about how you use SnagTimer — listings viewed, transactions completed, and similar activity — to operate and improve the Service.

02

How We Use Information

03

How Information Is Shared

We share information only as needed to operate the Service, with these parties specifically:

We do not sell your personal information.

04

Verification Documents — Extra Protection

Documents submitted for Book a Service provider verification (license numbers, business registration, etc.), On the Fly vendor verification (business registration/LLC formation documents, food safety certificates, etc.), and — once Sublets launches — Sublets lister verification, are stored separately from general account data, in a private location that only SnagTimer administrators can access for review purposes. These documents are never shared with other users, never made public, and are not used for anything beyond confirming your eligibility to post.

05

Notifications

If you enable push notifications, you'll receive alerts for things like order status updates, offers on your requests, and new activity relevant to you, delivered using the push token described in Section 1. You can turn push notifications on or off at any time from Settings → Notification Preferences, either entirely or by category (for example, Claims & Pickups, On the Fly, Reservations). Turning a category off stops those notifications completely — nothing is queued up or shown later.

06

Data Retention

We retain account and transaction information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward as needed for legal, tax, or dispute-resolution purposes. Identity verification records (see Section 1) are deleted, not just anonymized, when you delete your account. Book a Service, On the Fly, and (once active) Sublets verification documents are retained only as long as needed to support your ongoing eligibility to post.

07

Your Choices

08

Children's Privacy

SnagTimer is not intended for anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

09

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including restricting who can access sensitive data like Book a Service, On the Fly, and Sublets verification documents. No system is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

10

Group Host Revenue Share — Financial & Tax Information

This section describes a real financial and tax relationship for an ordinary (non-business) SnagTimer account. It should be reviewed by counsel and, ideally, a tax professional with particular attention before this document is treated as final.

If you create a “Host” group and become eligible to earn a share of platform commission on sales within it (see our Terms of Service), this involves data collection and sharing beyond a standard account:
